Trip to National Parliament Building
$50 per person
Trip to National Parliament building is an unforgettable journey through an architectural marvel and Its striking design.
The National Parliament Building, or Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, was designed by the world-renowned American architect Louis Kahn. This is the most notable modern building in Bangladesh and well regarded by many as the finest work of Kahn. Although the typical bold geometrical patterns are distinctive from the outside, visiting the interior, including the octagonal Assembly Hall, is a special treat.
Access to the National Assembly is very restricted. We arrange exclusive tours to the inside of the famous Parliament building with a minimum of 10 working days prior notice. Usually, a visit inside the parliament is about an hour or less. It is also possible to arrange a long time visit permission for Architects or someone having a special interest in this building. Any foreign and local nationals must obtain permission through a specific application form, which you will receive from us or the parliament’s official website. Visitors should fill up and send us the signed Application form along with a copy of their passport and visa.
All visitors are advised to avail of a visa from their home country to attach the visa information to the parliament visit application form. Any visitor planning for a visa on arrival and willing to visit the parliament within a few working days of their arrival may not assure a visit due to incomplete information on the prior application.
The parliament is open for visitors from Sunday to Thursday and closed on Friday, Saturday, and other government holidays.
Please note that we are not allowed to carry any kinds of electronic devices, firearms, books, bags, and any drinks other than water inside the parliament building. We can leave all our belongings and cameras in the vehicle right before the parliament house’s main entrance/ security check post, and you can take photographs after coming back from inside of the building.
Leave the hotel at 7 AM and drive to the north of Dhaka city to visit a beautiful mosque by local architect Marina Tabassum. On the way to the parliament, you will be visiting a superb Gulshan Mosque by architect Kashef Mahboob Chowdhury. Continue to drive to the National Assembly building for a couple of hours to visit inside. Lunch will be served at the parliament cafeteria (subject to availability) or a local restaurant. Then visit the Lui Kahn Hospital Complex and Muzharul Islam’s Bricks buildings in Agargaon. Intensive architecture walks around the Dhaka University campus area; visit a few fascinating buildings of guardian architect Muzharul Islam and a museum building by Marina Tabassum. If time permits, we will invite you to Bashirul Haque’s studio for a cup of tea and possibly a tour of some of his works. Drive back to the hotel/residence late in the afternoon.

National Assembly Building, Dhaka
We are American architects who came to visit Louis Kahn’s iconic National Assembly Building in Dhaka. Royal Bengal Tours arranged a two-day tour of the city, helped us gain visas-on-arrival at the Dhaka airport, and provided a knowledgeable guide and excellent driver to take us to the National Assembly Building and other significant architectural and historic sites. We were safely driven everywhere, from the airport to our hotel, to our selected sites, and at the end back to the airport. If you’ve ever driven in Dhaka you know how valuable this service can be, not to mention the knowldege and insights that Jewell and his staff provided. We highly recommend Royal Bengal Tours.

Thrilling Bangladesh
Our trip to Bangladesh focused on modern architecture such as the famous National Parliament by Louis I. Kahn, the prominent buildings of Muzharul Islam, the „founding father“ of modern architecture in Bangladesh, and other prominent contemporary architects like Basharul Haq whom we had the chance to meet. Our trip was organized and guided by Jewel‘s Royal Bengal Tours. There was nothing Jewel wouldn’t do for us as long as it fitted into our travelling plans. He guided us to the many places of of architectural interest not only in Dhaka but also in the countryside for instance to „the friendship center“ near Gaibanda, the Agricultural University in Mymensingh with its large buildings by Robert Neutra, Paul Rudolph and Muzharul Islam. Everything Jewel did was very well prepared and of great interest for us. He and his excellent young driver Mobarak showed us their country and guided us safely through heavy traffic and noisy places while we sat peacefully in the back of the car enjoying what there was to see – among others the beautiful green landscapes and rice fields. The last days of our visit we spent in the Sunderbans at the shore of the Indian Ocean where we were looking for Bengal Tigers. Yet they were not hungry for us, they only left their footprints in the sand. – It was a wonderful and extraordinary trip. Not only did we find great architecture in Bangladesh but also gained a good friend – Jewel! We are very greatful for this unique experience. And we can recommend him to everybody who is interested to learn about Bangladesh. Thanks a lot, dear Jewel and good luck with your upcoming tours and your business.

Excellent tour. Great logistics. Great people.
Royal Bengal Tours is great. I 100% recommend them. My wife and I were visiting Bangladesh for the first time and had limited time for research and our visit. RBT’s Jewel was very responsive by e-mail, and made short-notice arrangements for us to visit the Parliament complex. Mithu, our guide, was all-around excellent. He was friendly, very informative and knowledgable, a good communicator, and very adaptable to our needs. He provided many insights about the country, city, and people. After beginning our tour, we realized that we had some different priorities concerning what to see, and Mithu adapted our itinerary wonderfully.
We took a full day tour. There was some walking. The Parliament building was very interesting. Old Dhaka was busy, chaotic, full of sights and sounds and smells. Traffic was horrible in the afternoon, so be prepared to sit in grid lock sometimes.

Architecture tour
Had a great day with Afridi. He was so kind and did a great job taking around the city. Especially having access to go inside the parliament building. If I come back to Dhaka I would use royal bangal tours again. Highly recommend. Make sure you ask for Afridi!

A wonderful, comprehensive tour of Dhaka!
We had a wonderful two-day tour of Dhaka with Jewel! He was knowledgeable, welcoming, and accommodating. We contacted Jewel because we wanted to see the inside of the Bangladesh National Parliament House. Not only did we get to see Louis Kahn’s masterpiece, but we got to see so much more.
From a small boat trip across the Meghna River, to a visit of the Museum of Independence to a walking tour of Old Dhaka, Jewel made sure we had a great experience. We fell in love with the Bangladeshi people and their vibrant culture. We had wonderful food along the way (note: we did not get sick), which culminated in a warm and delicious dinner with a local family. We can’t thank Jewel enough for his hospitality. We plan to come back to visit him and see more of Bangladesh!
