Discover the jewels of Bangladesh

World’s largest ship breaking yard, 150km continuous sea beach, hill tracts and variety of ethnic culture.

Chittagong city, the second largest city in Bangladesh, is on the north bank of the Karnaphuli River and has the busiest port in the country. The Chittagong Hill Tracts are comprised of the three districts- Rangamati, Bandarban and Khagrachori. They are all primarily populated by various tribes who are distinct from each other in major aspects. Each tribe, for instance, has its own distinctive rites, rituals, dress and also has its own language and cultural pattern. Chittagong is the initial jumping-off point for the Chittagong Hill tracts to the east and for Cox’s Bazar to the south. The Chittagong dialect of Bangla is somewhat different from that in other parts of the country, incorporating words from Arabic, Portuguese, Arakanese and tribal language. According to the Chinese traveler Xuan Zhang, the city is a ‘sleeping beauty emerging out of the misty water’. In many ways, south-eastern division offers the most variety to travelers- it proudly hosts the World’s longest natural beach, has the country’s highest region, the Chittagong Hill Tracts, while Wild Asian elephants roam the tropical evergreen forests. Exploring the hilly topography of Bandarban and Rangamati, walking through the tribal villages, meeting and tasting their food, boating on Shangu River and Rangamati Lake makes you change your definition of Bangladesh. There are lots of activities to do in this area such as trekking to Hatibandha Tripura viallage, Boroitoli Marma Village, Tarasha authentic Tripura tribal Village and adventurous trip to Kewkradong, Thanchi and Nafakhum waterfalls. Couple of hours boat cruising by the World largest ship breaking yard will give you an idea of ‘how skilled the human labor should be to manually breakdown giant ships from all around the world’. A peaceful boat trip from Chittagong/Dhaka to Nijhum Deep (Mangrove forest and a natural habitat for spotted deers), Borishal and virgin sea beach of Kuakata will be an unforgettable experience.
